Shear Modulus Calculator Online

Shear Modulus Calculator Description

The formula for calculating Shear Modulus is:

Shear Stress (𝜏) =
Force Magnitude (F) / Area over which the force acts (A)

Shear strain (γ) =
Displacement Δx / Transverse length (l)

Shear modulus (G) =
Shear strain (γ) / Shear Stress (𝜏)

Example of Calculations:

Force Magnitude: 25 N

Area over which the force acts: 30 m2

Transverse length (l): 15 m

Displacement Δx: 36 m

Shear Stress (𝜏) = 25 / 30 = 0.8333333333333334

Shear strain (γ) = 36 / 15 = 2.4

Shear modulus (G) = 0.8333333333333334 / 2.4 = 0.3472 Pa
